his section is for what are known as "FAQs" on The Web; a collection of questions that you might have about The Federationists, who it represents, and why you might want to be associated with it or even run as a candidate under or with its banner.
Is this a collective group of people of some sort?
No. This is the act of a private citizen who believes that the existing political parties have become experts at creating "social divide" issues that will poll 50% on either side. This results in the candidate needing to win exactly one vote. Democratic? Like hell.
But how can you claim to be a collective organization or group?
No such claim is made. If you believe in and support the principles outlined here, you belong to this group should you so choose to associate with it. If not, you don't. It's a choice.
Isn't political activism about consensus?
How well has that worked out thus far? And what is it about consensus that means collective definition of issues anyway? Consensus is just that - consent. Debate is just fine and well, but at the end of the day debate has to end and action begin.
I insist that <issue x> go my way or I won't join you!
Have a nice day.
What leads you to believe that you'll get positive change from this approach?
Nothing. Principles are what they are. You don't undertake and espouse them because you're looking for consensus. You take and espouse them on principle - because you believe they're correct - and you attempt to convince others with logic that they're correct. If you succeed, then that's great. If you fail, then you still stood on what you believe in rather than sniveling around trying to build "consensus" and selling your soul while achieving nothing.
What if I'm a candidate and support these positions in the Platform?
Contact us. If you're willing to take these positions in public you may use the banner and name. Your political party is not material; this is an "issues advocacy" brand, not a partisan effort.
Is the Platform going to change between now and the election?
The platform has been locked as of 5/31/2011; only edits for clarity, grammar and syntax are permissible until the election. Debate on the matters contained in it is found at the forum. If you wish to support The Federationists as a candidate you may wish to wait until the first of June so as to be able to make an informed judgment on exactly what positions are and are not expected of you. |
